RIVERSIDE DINING

For the past 21 years our riverside Yangshuo restaurant has become the hub of the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat. Our stylish relaxed atmosphere combined with our delicious local and western cuisine is a highlight of many a guest's stay.

Our menu is filled with wonderful local specialties and Yangshuo county's distinct cuisine and cooking flavors make it a culinary delight for all lovers of Chinese country cooking. The kitchen team of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat carefully buys fresh ingredients every day, which come from nearby villages. Our Chefs, Aunt Luo and Xiao Li are also from these villages and grew up with the dishes we present to you here.

INDOOR DINING

Our dining room opened in 2001 and is still furnished with locally grown bamboo seating made by a craftsman from the neighboring village. We have 20 original hand-made seats in total with air conditioning for those hot summers and a log fire to keep you snug in the winter months.

We have traditional Europpean homemade bread and pasta from our Austrian chef, Andy. He is the longtime owner of The Brew in Yangshuo and recently moved his kitchen to Yangshuo Mountain Retreat. You can see what is is baking these days here.

In Yangshuo there are thousands of restaurants, though most are geared torward tourists - both overpriced and low quality. As the longest continuously running Yangshuo hotel, we can confidently direct our guests to the most reputable and highest quality Yangshuo restaurants. Most of these do not specialize in local food but offer a variety of dishes and are all very high quality while reasonably priced.

YANGSHUO BARS

The Yangshuo bar scene is lively and varied, with folk music bars for Chinese tourists to brew pubs and rooftop beer bars catering more to local expats. Most Yangshuo bars don't open until 6pm and will close around 1am. Taxis will serve Yangshuo town to Yangshuo Mountain Retreat but at night the fare will be RMB 50.
